USDF L Education Program

GLASS-ED is excited to bring Part 1 of the USDF L Education Program back to West Michigan.

Dates:

Session A - October 14 & 15, 2023 - Maryal Barnett

Session B - December 9 & 10, 2023 - Debbie Rodriguez

Session C - March 9 & 10, 2024 - Kathy Rowse

The L Program offers a comprehensive curriculum where participants and auditors can learn what trained judges are looking for in dressage performance. This program will concentrate on Training through Second Level and will be taught by a faculty of experienced USDF approved, United States Equestrian Federation licensed "S" dressage judges.

This program has been designed with several goals in mind:

1) To give competitors, trainers, instructors, and other interested people greater insight into the evaluative techniques of judging dressage.

2) To meet a requirement to enter the USDF/USEF “r” Judge Training Program.

3) To qualify individuals to judge schooling shows.

4) To provide continuing education for licensed judges and graduates of the L Program.

The Program is divided into two parts; each part is made up of three sessions:

Part 1- “A Judge’s Perspective” is open to all USDF Members; this is the educational foundation of the program.

  • Session A is an introduction to judging and biomechanics.

  • Session B is about judging criteria for gaits & paces, movements & figures.

  • Session C is about collective marks, equitation, rider biomechanics and basics.

Auditor Registration

The USDF L Program accepts auditors as SILENT AUDITORS.  This means that auditors can listen and view Part 1 of the Program, but are not permitted to ask questions unless time permits.  USDF University Credits are awarded to USDF members auditing the L Program. Silent auditors do not need to fulfill any prerequisites in order to attend Part 1.
